This
is the second installment of Astronomy with a Macintosh:
á
I used to use a WallStreet PowerBook for my Astronomy adventures. Recently I purchased an iBook 600 and am converting over to use this amazing little powerhouse. I am also on a wireless Apple Airport network, so I can send files or information to another computer or to my Server. I can also access the internet from my backyard.
á
As mentioned in part 1, I use a Keyspan USB to Serial adapter and a Belkin Firewire to SCSI adapter. Both work in
either MacOS 9 or Mac OSX. Of course I also have the Serial adapter cable to
hook up to the LX200.
á
You can use a sturdy tripod like a Bogen 3036 and a Bogen 410 (3275) head for telescopes up to 11 pounds.. The head has very precise gears and can be adjusted in three directions, I use this on my Orion AstroView 120.
